Is Pay As You Go Right for Me?

The key benefit of Pay As You Go is freedom. SInce you only pay for the texts, minutes and data that you use, it is a fair and predicatable way to pay for your mobile usage. PAYG may not always be the cheapest option, but it is usually the easiest to manage and budget for.

Most networks now offer "Bolt-ons" or "Goody bags" to help bridge the gap between PAY As you Go and Pay Monthly contracts. If your usage is going to be higher for a short while you can add a bundle of calls and data to use for the next month.

How Bundles Work

Pay As You Go is different from normal SIMO contracts because you don't have to commit to paying every month. However, sometimes it may be better if you do. You can add a bundle of  data and calls to bring the overall cost down. These bundles are temporary and flexible - activate a bundle when you think you will need it, and turn it off when you don't.

Can I Keep my number?

If you have a phone number that you want to keep then most of the time you can keep it when you choose a Pay As you Go SIM plan. Whether you are moving to a PAYG plan or moving away you don't need to worry - there is no reason you can't keep your number.

Most networks make it easy to if you ever decide to upgrade to a Pay Monthly plan in the future too. You should be able to keep your phone number and even transfer any remaining credit to your first PAYM bill.

Will PAYGO work with any phone?

Yes, PAYG plans will work with any phone on the market - there are no phones that only work with monthly contracts. However, if you bought your phone with a contract from a major network it may need to be unlocked first.
